Last year I hit bottom….that is, the bottom of my living room floor with a heavy heap of music scores in my arms that kept landing in my mailbox. I was stunned that I was receiving music from across the continent. How incredibly exciting!

After so many years the calls from composers were getting too loud to ignore anymore. So last year I decided to create a “Spring project”. It is a 6 week reading session with Cantala that ends with a recording session of the work(s) and a social.

This year we are looking to continue our spring project but are looking to spread our wings out to a wider audience of composers. If you are interested in having one of your treble choir compositions read and recorded by Cantala please read the guidelines below. We are ardent supporters of new work-especially Canadian work (but welcome everyone), and would really enjoy hearing from you.

We are especially looking for:

  • Acapella treble works.

  • Composers who are unpublished and have never had their work performed or recorded.

OR

  • Composers who have a work that is under performed or not discovered (published or unpublished).

  • Music publishers that can provide us with free music scores in return for music they want recorded.

**If your work requires instrumentation (piano, violin, flute etc) the partial cost of covering the extra musicians will apply.

Please send all work that you would like to have looked at to nancy.singla@hotmail.com, or even better yet, in the mail. Send an email to Nancy and she will provide you an address.

Thank you and looking forward to seeing your submissions.
