Who is the Cantala Women’s Choir?
Now in its 10th season, Cantala is an award winning, vibrant choral group in the Toronto choral community. She is committed to performing diverse Canadian and World choral music at the highest level from baroque, classical and modern eras. Cantala is a musical home for those who have a passion for achieving choral excellence.
Which awards has Cantala won?
Cantala has received platinum and gold ratings at the Toronto Kiwanis and Peel music festivals since 2013. They have also been awarded the Etobicoke Centennial scholarship and the John Bird Memorial Award. In 2013 and 2017, Cantala placed Second at the Ontario Provincial Choral Competition and in 2015 received Honourable mention.
Who sings with the Cantala Women’s Choir?
The Choir is made up of singers with various levels of choir singing experience;

Loves to sing and desires to be a part of an award winning choral group;
Reads music and is comfortable sight reading a melody and clapping a rhythm;
Has previous singing experience in a choral group or as a soloist;
Is eager to learn in a fun, friendly atmosphere, strive for excellence, and study the music on their own between rehearsals.
Who leads the Cantala Women's Choir?
Nancy Singla brings a unique approach and knowledge to choral singing. In addition to the importance of understanding and teaching how to sing, she believes in encouraging and helping the development of the soloist within the choral sound. She holds her masters degree in choral conducting from the University of Toronto.

What is the time commitment to join Cantala?
Cantala meets once per week on Monday's for two hours at Forest Hill United church in Toronto Located at Bathurst and Eglinton. It is accessible by TTC. We regularly perform two major concerts with two or three smaller recitals per year and participate in the local musical festival every spring.
